Content policy

Principles#

SOTF Mods exists so players can find mods that work and creators get credit for their work. This policy explains what belongs here. It applies to mods, builds, Kits, images, descriptions, comments, reviews, profiles and reports.

What you can publish#

• Mods, libraries and tools for Sons of the Forest made for RedLoader.
• BuildShare blueprints (builds) of your own creations.
• Kits: collections of mods from the site with your notes.
• Screenshots and videos of your mod in action.

Every mod needs a clear description of what it does, how to install it and what it requires.

What is not allowed#

• Malware, spyware, miners, or code that does anything the description doesn't disclose.
• Files of the game itself or of other commercial games, cracks and piracy tools.
• Mods designed to cheat in other players' multiplayer sessions without their consent, or to harm other players.
• Hate speech, harassment, threats, and content that sexualises minors (always removed and reported).
• Real-world violence or illegal content, and doxxing (publishing someone's private information).
• Spam, misleading titles or images, and fake reviews or reports.

Safety of files#

Every new mod is reviewed at the Ranger Station before it is public, and every file is scanned. Executables need a clear reason and a source link. We may ask for the source code of a mod that raises doubts, and remove it if it can't be verified.

Adult content#

Mods with nudity or strong sexual content must be marked NSFW. NSFW content is hidden by default, shown only to signed-in adults who opt in, never shown with ads and never used in previews. Rangers may mark a mod NSFW themselves and will tell the author.

Credits and reuploads#

• Only publish work that is yours, or that you have permission to share. Say so in the description and link the original.
• Respect the licence the original author chose. "All rights reserved" means no reuploads.
• Ports and continuations of abandoned mods need permission or a licence that allows it; credit the original author on the mod page.

AI-assisted content#

You may use AI tools to help make a mod or its images, as long as you have the right to publish the result, you check that it works and you describe the mod honestly. Mass-produced, untested or misleading AI content will be removed.

Community spaces#

Comments and reviews are for talking about the mod: questions, feedback, bug reports, help. Be respectful, keep reviews about the mod and your experience with it, and report problems instead of fighting in comments.

Reporting#

Use Report on any mod, version, comment, review or profile. Rangers review reports, usually within 48 hours. For copyright claims, follow the DMCA page.

Enforcement#

Depending on how serious it is and whether it happened before, we may edit or hide content, remove it, ask for changes before a mod is published, limit features, or suspend an account temporarily or permanently. Illegal content is reported to the authorities where required. Every action is logged.

Appeals#

If you think a decision was wrong, reply to the notification you received or contact us. A different ranger or an admin will review it.
