Overview

We respect the rights of creators, including the creators of mods. If you believe content on SOTF Mods infringes your copyright, you can ask us to remove it. We handle notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws such as the EU Digital Services Act.

If a mod was reuploaded without your permission, you can also simply use Report on its page; rangers act on those quickly.

What a notice must include

  1. Your name and contact details (address, email, phone).
  2. The work you own that you believe is infringed.
  3. The exact URL(s) on SOTF Mods of the content you want removed.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Where to send it

Email: dmca@sotf-mods.com with the subject "DMCA notice".

What happens next

We review the notice, remove or disable access to the content if it is valid, and tell the uploader, including a copy of the notice (your contact details may be shared with them so they can respond). We usually act within a few business days.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or that you have the right to publish it, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with:

  1. Your name, address, email and phone.
  2. The content that was removed and where it appeared.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant court and will accept service from the person who sent the notice.
  5. Your signature.

We forward it to the person who sent the notice. If they don't tell us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the content.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly publish infringing content will be closed.

Misuse

Knowingly false notices or counter-notices can make you liable for damages. If you're unsure whether something infringes your rights, talk to a lawyer first.
