Field notes
Welcome to SOTF Mods v2
A rebuilt SOTF Mods — field-tested compatibility on every patch, Patch Radar, reviews, Kits, a creator dashboard and 13 languages. What changed and what stays the same.
SOTF Mods has been the home of Sons of the Forest modding since 2023. Today we're opening a rebuilt site: faster, safer and built around the question every player asks first — does this mod still work?
Does it work? Now you know#
Every mod now shows whether players have confirmed it works on the current game build, with the number of field reports behind it. After you try a mod, tell us: works, partly works or broken, in solo, as host, as client or on a dedicated server. Creators can mark a version as tested and reply to reports.
Patch Radar follows the 50 most popular mods after every game update, together with the status of RedLoader and RedManager. When a patch breaks things, you'll see it there first.
New ways to find and share mods#
- Explore with filters that matter: works on the current build, multiplayer role, dedicated servers, recently updated.
- Kits: collections of mods that work well together, with notes. Follow them, clone them and share them with your group.
- Reviews with ratings, next to threaded comments with reactions.
- Follow mods and creators and get Signals when they update.
- A command palette: press
Ctrl+Kanywhere to jump to any mod, build or creator.
For creators#
Basecamp is your new dashboard: a guided publisher that checks your zip before you upload, versions with changelogs, analytics of downloads and field reports, and an inbox for everything that needs your attention. New creator tiers and badges reward quality and helpfulness, not volume.
Safer downloads#
New mods are reviewed at the Ranger Station, files are scanned, and every version shows its SHA-256 checksum. Sessions are more secure, and adult content is hidden unless you opt in.
In your language#
The whole site is available in 13 languages, including the installation guide, which now covers antivirus warnings, BepInEx confusion, dedicated servers and the most common problems.
What stays the same#
- Your account: sign in with the same email or handle and the same password. You'll just need to sign in once again.
- Your mods, links and downloads: every mod page, download link and RedManager integration keeps working. Old addresses redirect to the new ones.
- Free downloads, straight from our storage, with no account needed.
The old one-click installer is retired; RedManager does the same job better.
Tell us what you think#
This is a big release and something will surely need fixing. Tell us on Discord — and if you build tools for the community, the new public API is ready for you.
See you on the island.
